World Book Day – 3rd March 2022

Whether your child loves one of Roald Dahl’s novels or the wizarding world of Harry Potter, World Book Day is the perfect opportunity to raid their fancy dress wardrobe to celebrate the wonder of reading. We would love to see the children in their fancy dress costumes or you could send us a photograph of them with their favourite book.

World Book Day was created by UNESCO on 23rd April 1995 as a worldwide celebration of books and reading. It is marked in over 100 countries around the globe. The first World Book Day in the UK and Ireland took place in 1997 to encourage young people to discover the pleasure of reading which is what we want them to do by using the library to discover their favourite book or find a new one.

If you would like to lead a story telling session for young readers or to start a children’s book club please do get in touch.
