The books in our library are organised into sections on fiction and non-fiction. We have separate sections for crime fiction; large print; audio books; fantasy, western; classics; romance; young adult; teenage and children’s books.
We have two computers available for library members to use. Access to the internet is FREE however you will need your library card and PIN to access the computers. You can pre-book sessions on the PCs online on the Leicestershire libraries website or by contacting the library. If the computers are freeand are not booked you can just walk in and use them. Printing to the photocopier/printer is available from the PCs at a small cost.
Our library offers FREE WiFi. Just log in to LCC FREE WiFi.
Photocopier: We have a ‘pay per print’ photocopier which can copy, scan or print in black and white or colour. 25p per black and white page, 50p per colour. This is coin operated (use exact change). Help is available with this service from the librarians.
Local History: We have a small local history section. Please ask the librarians if you are looking for specific information.
Family History: All Leicestershire libraries offer free access to family history websites. You will need a library card and PIN number to book a session on the computers. Any upcoming Family History Events will be advertised in the ‘NEWS/EVENTS’ section.
We have information about local events and many leaflets about the local area, including bus timetables and local walks. We also have plenty of information about local clubs, societies and activites.
Little Bookworms: For Pre-school children we run a ‘Little Bookworms’ session of songs, rhymes and stories these take place on certain dates during term time only. Sessions are free. Dates are advertised on our outside noticeboards and around the local area.
Come and meet new people and enjoy a story with your ‘Little Bookworm’ ! Great for babies too!
Hob Nobs: For Senior members of the community we hold fortnightly sessions on Friday afternoons . This is a popular and friendly group so do pop in and say “Hello”. The group hold regular activities such as quizzes, games, bingo and crafts . Refreshments are provided too. It is a good way to make new friends and to get to know people in the local area. Busy Hands: For the Crafty folk in the community we hold fortnightly sessions on Friday afternoon.( to alternate with Hob Nobs). Come along with your own craft items or come along and find out what projects the group are working on. Some materials can be provided and everyone is keen to help new members learn new skills. If you knit, crochet, sew come along to make new friends and get to know other like-minded people.
Tea and Tech: As technology advances at a rapid pace many people find keeping up to speed with changes challenging. Tea and Tech offers members of the community a chance to bring along their devices eg ipad, tablet, laptop, mobile phone etc and learn how to use them effectively in a relaxed and friendly environment. So if you want to add emails to your new phone or get to grips with using your camera on your ipad then come along and get more out of your device.
Hiring the Library
Our library is available to hire for local groups at £6 per hour (minimum booking £7.50). It is a small venue so is suitable for groups of approximately 12. We have extra seating and tables if necessary. Basic external toilet and kitchen facilities are available. Please use the contact details if you want more information on prices and a booking form.
