We are holding another book sale on Saturday 15th of May as part of the Littlethorpe Walking Market held over the weekend. Despite the weather we did have a sucessful Children’s Book Sale on May 8th but this time there will be something for everyone. See you there…..

We have been given donations of many wonderful children’s books for all ages so why not come along and see what we have. Bring a bag with you too as you may want to go away with more than you thought !!

Just to let everyone know items out on loan which were due back on March 29th had their due dates extended until the 12th of April no that date has arrived we are pleased to say that any outstanding book will not attract a fine until July. Now that the library is open again we ask that you do return any outstanding books you have. Use the Book Drop /letter box next to the front door or pop into the library with them. o
Thanks to National Book Tokens and lots of lovely book publishers and booksellers, World Book Day, in partnership with schools all over the country, distribute over 15 million £1 World Book Day book tokens to children and young people (that’s almost one for every child/young person under 18 in the UK and Ireland) every year on World Book Day. Why not use your book token to buy a new book for just £1 ot head over the the World Book Day website to listen to an audio book or watch a book reading video. https://www.worldbookday.com/

In line with the Government Announcement on February 22nd Libraries will not be able to open to the public until April 12th at the earliest therefore we wanted to remind everyone that we are still offering the Reserve and Collect Service we implemented before.
Books can be requested by: Completing a Request Form by Phone: 0116 305 3706 or by email: nandlclibrary@gmail.com

Once again we are delighted to see a new display at the Library to brighten our day. The Busy Hands and members of Hob Nobs have come together to create another fabulous display for you to enjoy. Hopefully it will bring a smile to your face during these cold and uncertain times.

Thanks to our growing number of Library Friends, many who are also volunteers, we have been able to keep the library going throughout the lockdowns we’ve all suffered. We are as keen as everyone else to get the library re-opened safely and hope that it will be soon.

In the meantime you can borrow e-books and audio books from Leicestershire Libraries Borrow Box scheme. All you need is your library card and you can borrow books or audiobooks from your favourite authors.

We are looking to expand the books we have for older children and would love to hear from readers in the 11-14 age group as to the books and authors they enjoy the most. We are also hoping to improve the IT available at the library and intend to purchase ipads for public use in the libary so if you have any suggestions on how we can make this work for you we’d love to hear from you.
The Library is a Community Managed Library (CML) which means we rely on the events we hold to keep the library going. Sadly, as we have not been able to hold any events for the last year, our funds are gradually dwindling. By becoming a Library Friend you plegde to donate a small amount of money each year which helps us budget for theyear ahead. As a Library Friend you will be entered into a twice yearly draw and be kept up to date with Library newsletters. If you would like to help support the library as a Library Friend or as a Volunteer librarian please get in touch, we would love to hear from you.

The Library Management Committee wishes all of our supporters, volunteers and customers a very happy and healthy new year. With a healthy new year in mind we have taken the decision to close the library again for at least the first two weeks of January. We have not taken this decision lightly but feel that it is in everyones best interest to do so.
We very much look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the library when we safely re-open. If you have any urgent requests please do call the library as we will do our best to accommodate any special requests.
